Kathleen Taylor and Connell Family First Generation Scholarship Endowment

Kathy Taylor was a mathematics professor at Duquesne University for 39 years. While she was active as a volunteer for a large number of organizations and causes — including the Mathematics Association of America, St. Margaret of Scotland Church, People Able to Lend Support (“PALS”), and a passion for animals — it was at Duquesne that Kathy, a former president of the Faculty Senate, found a long-standing professional home. As a professor, she witnessed higher education’s power to transform lives. It is in loving tribute to Kathy’s passion for supporting college students that the Connell Family has chosen to create this endowed scholarship specifically for students who are the first in their families to complete a baccalaureate degree.
