Dr. Frances Shapiro-Skrobē and Mr. John Skrobē Teacher Education Scholarship
Dr. Frances Shapiro-Skrobē is Professor Emerita of English at Ramapo College. She retired from the faculty in 2018, and created this scholarship with her husband John, who passed away in 2025, to benefit deserving students in the Teacher Education Program.
Dr. Shapiro-Skrobē also taught in the Literature and College Reading & Writing Programs, and served for six years as the Dean of the Division of Basic Studies. She was a Visiting Professor of Linguistics at the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo in Peru (through the Fulbright Junior Lectureship Program), and a Peace Corps Volunteer in India for two years, where she taught English and ESL, and trained English teachers.
