Herman D. Mytelka Memorial Scholarship
Arnold Mytelka was chairman of the Ramapo College Board of Trustees from 1979-1980. Both of Mr. Mytelka’s parents were educators in the Jersey City public school system; his mother taught seventh and eighth grade English and his father was a math teacher and former principal of Dickinson High School. Herman Mytelka also taught at James J. Ferris High School in Jersey City.
Arnold Mytelka established a scholarship at Ramapo in his mother’s memory in 1983 and created this award in memory of his father in 2006. The Herman Mytelka Scholarship recognizes entering Ramapo College freshmen from any public high school in Jersey City, with preference given to students from Dickinson High School.
