Bergen Highlands/Ramsey Rotary Club

In response to the devastating earthquakes that struck Nepal in April and May of 2015, the Bergen Highlands/Ramsey Rotary Club created a disaster relief fund to benefit Ramapo College students who might have extraordinary needs caused by a natural disaster, terrorist or other violent incidents, war or riot, accident or similar occurrence. For Ramapo?s Nepalese students ? the largest number of international students at the College ? the earthquakes meant that returning home for the summer and returning to Ramapo in the fall would be difficult, if not impossible.

The intent of the Highlands/Ramsey Rotary Club disaster fund is to provide financial support for students who have been affected by a disaster, either natural or otherwise. The Fund can be used for incidental expenses that are necessary for a student?s ability to be successful at Ramapo, including books, food, clothing, supplies, or travel to an internship.

Thirty one Nepalese students, whose families were directly affected by the earthquake, were recipients of the Bergen Highlands/Ramsey Rotary Club Scholarship in 2015/2016.
